Tom wants to lose weight!  What better "way" than to make a promise and keep it?  Watch the results, which will be posted regularly.  Watch the weight peel off--or not?  Feel your wallet get lighter--or not?

Note, Tom invented his own diet for this.  He calls it the Blood Glucose Diet.  He monitors his glucose 10 times per day (10 prickings daily), then eats only when his blood glucose reaches 90 or it's mealtime anyway.  This pretty much eliminates snacking.  He relies on the glucose meter to make the decision, so the mind or body are not part of it.  Thus, hunger pangs are considered to be merely the work of a tricky mind or body.  Hunger pangs are no longer interpreted as signs of hunger but mere physical annoyances.

March 4: Tom weighs in at 232 pounds.  Note:  he still eats chocolate, but because the snacks are out, he eats less.

 Good luck, Tom!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.

Day 3:  Tom has lost 2 pounds!  He is well on his weigh!  Tom is from South Dakota, so he likes corn. :=)

March 18:  Tom weighs in at 230 pounds;  this weight was taken in the morning before breakfast.  He has cut out snacks and HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) as well.  Although he is only 2 pounds down, his fasting blood sugar, which was borderline diabetic at 120, has dropped to 110!

March 25:  one more pound lost!  One week left to go:  the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.  Clearly, unless gravity diminishes unexpectedly, there is no plausible scenario for reaching the 10-pound goal by April 4...
